          The Time Is Now

Over the last few years, I have watched Minneapolis change right before my eyes. I have felt the heartache and pain of justice not being served and families not feeling safe in their own neighborhood. I have witnessed homeless people being abused by the authorities. After the city of Minneapolis closed most of the homeless shelters down during the pandemic, my fellow neighbors felt like they were prisoners in their own home because the city allowed the utility companies to rip up sidewalks and streets for months at a time. Leaving our most vulnerable neighbors with no access to get medical treatment or access to get something to eat.

As an activist, I needed to stand up and help my fellow neighbors, so I added my name to the 2025 ballot. Malcolm X once said, “A man who stands for nothing, will fall for anything. “I want to stand with my neighbors with my head up high, because silence is not an option for me. I was here when they called our city “Murderapolis, I was here in 2006 when they changed the name of ward 9 to Midtown. I was even in the streets in 2020 when they tried to burn our city down, and I will be in these same streets when we turn this area back around!

I know this will be a challenge for all of us. But I insist, if you are a believer like me, we can see the diamond in the rough.

My Goals For Minneapolis

My Goals:
I'm on a mission to revitalize the City of Minneapolis, and I truly believe the time for healing our community is NOW! Sure, there will be challenges along the way, but together, we can rebuild our city even stronger than before! I'm eager to kick off open communication with homeowners, renters, and business owners because transparency is key! Let’s establish quarterly community meetings where we can connect with our council leaders, and I’ll always have open-door policy to listen to each other’s voices.

Unhoused Neighbors:
My heart is set on ensuring that every Minneapolis resident feels safe secure in their homes and neighborhoods. As a woman of color who has faced homelessness, I am dedicated to supporting our unhoused neighbors. It's essential to remember that not everyone without a home struggles with addiction; many have unique stories, including foster youth, veterans, and women fleeing violence. With over 10,500 individuals experiencing homelessness in Minnesota on a single night, my goal is to help those who wish to find a safe, drug-free place they can call home.

Building a Bridge Between the Community and the Police Department:
Let’s unite to build a bridge of trust and collaboration between our community and the Minneapolis Police Department! By prioritizing transparency and ongoing dialogue, we can create a safer, more inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and protected. Together, we can strive for a future where justice and public safety are a shared commitment.

Affordable Housing:
I want to make it clear: creating affordable housing won't happen overnight! While I'm no magician, I committed to working hard and collaborating with our community to fix what's broken. With my finance background, I'll ensure we stay within budget, hold weekly meetings with key stakeholders, and make necessary adjustments. I didn't run for mayor to be popular; I ran because I love this city and believe that together, we can create a sustainable future for all!
